Detailed program
Day 1
Today we'll start our fascinating trip to the island of extraordinary beauty, which is located at the distance of 300 km from Irkutsk.
Our way will pass through the boundless steppe open spaces, woods and fields. From the window you will admire, how the Buryat villages with small huts are changing one by one, cows, horses and sheep graze at green meadows, and you will be excited by the picturesque rural landscapes.
We will surely stop in one of roadside cafes to try the Buryat Buuza and other tasty dishes. Besides, there will be a stop at the border with the Olkhon district. Here you will learn the ritual of honoring local spirits.
On arrival visit to the main shamanist shrine – the Shaman rock (cape of Burkhan). Here, according to the legend, the main spirit of Baikal – Khan Khute Baabai - lives, and you will learn beautiful legends, connected with other protectors of the sacred lake.
Day 2
Today we will go for the excursion to the most beautiful places in the northern part of the island.
Cape Khoboy is the most extreme point of Olkhon, only Russian UAZ cars can drive along the off road terrain of Olkhon .
Visit to the viewpoints will allow to see the numerous islands of Baikal and their similarity to some animals, for example, crocodile, lion, etc.
You'll learn, why one of the rocks reminds female shape, we will visit Three Brothers cape, having got acquainted with the legend about the Buryat family, and we'll even visit magic rocks, where you will be able to make a wish.
After returning we'll go to the nearby village to visit the Buryat family to learn their traditions and customs, participate in local master classes and dance Yochor - the Buryat national dance.
Day 3.
Today after breakfast we will walk along Khuzhir village. We'll go to the museum of local lore and get acquainted closer with the history of the island, locals and the settlement.
Return to Irkutsk. The way to the city will take about 5 hours, on the way we can stop at one of local cafes for lunch.
Return to the city.
